Mark your calendar and join us for the final Bei Dou Xing meeting of the school year! We’ll be celebrating our members and our accomplishments this year with an informal, open-forum format. Enjoy refreshments and conversation with fellow XinXing parents from 7-8pm in the IKE Wetlands Café. BDX board members will be on hand to share information and answer questions on a variety of topics including summer learning ideas, board position openings, BDX grants, Laoshi and Cultural Funds, status of the 8th grade China Trip and more. We hope to see you there!

The December BDX parent meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, January 27. Join us from 7pm-8:30pm in room 223 of the Community Ed building, all XinXing parents are welcome.
The meeting will feature Terri Siguenza and Molly Wieland. They will be talking about the achievements of the XinXing elementary program. There will also be a brief update on the Jr High Chinese Immersion programming.

Mark your calendar — the first BeiDouXing meeting of the school year has been moved up one week to Monday September 23rd.
Kindergarten families are invited to come early for a Meet and Greet starting at 6:15pm — connect with other Kindergarten families and meet members of the BDX Board.
The general meeting starts at 7pm in room 233 of the Eisenhower Community Center, all XinXing parents are welcome. In addition to BDX general business, guest speaker Joan Brzezinski, Executive Director at the U of M China Center and Confucius Institute, will share information about the general cultural differences that parents and students may experience during their immersion experience with our Chinese teachers and guests (30mins). And Zhining Chin, Hopkins District Coordinator of Assessment, Evaluation, and Research, will be discussing the Chinese after-school activities available for XinXing students.

Shirley Gregoire-Principal at West Junior High, Todd Roudabush-IB Coordinator, and Molly Wieland-XinXing curriculum coordinator will be joining us to talk about the new International Baccalaureate program for the Junior High and it’s impact on the XinXing program at West. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about the junior high opportunities for XinXing immersions students.

Mark your calendar and come early – at 6:30 — to the March 18 BDX (Bei Dou Xing) member meeting in the Eisenhower Community Center. Here’s your chance to meet other kindergarten families and learn about BDX and how you could get involved. Refreshments will be served!
Then, stay for the 7 o’clock meeting and hear Principal Terri Siguenza talk about:
- Planning for the new XinXing 6th-grade class
- Two programs (Eisenhower and XinXing), one school
- Planning for the new playground, to be constructed May 4 & 5

Diane Schimelpfenig, Hopkins Director of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment, and Nik Lightfoot, Hopkins Director of Administrative Services, will join us at our December meeting. Diane Schimelpfenig will share updates about secondary planning (junior high) for the Chinese immersion program. Nik Lightfoot will discuss teacher tenure and longevity in immersion schools. The BeiDouXing meeting will be at 7:00 pm and will be located in the Eisenhower Community Ed building, conference room 233.
