students practiced Chinese dining ettiquette
On Friday, March 7th XinXing 5th graders learned how to make Chinese dumplings and experienced a traditional Chinese meal at the second annual 5th Grade Cultural Lunch. The lunch was organized and staffed by parent volunteers in cooperation with the XinXing 5th grade teachers.
As part of the experience, students learned about Chinese dining etiquette and traditional table roles of each family member or guest. Each student was
- hands-on dumpling class
assigned a role to play during the dining experience.
Students also attended a dumpling cooking class where they got to make their own dumplings to be served along with the lunch.
Funding for the event was provided by Bei Dou Xing.
Qin Xuanfu Arts Exhibition — An Embrace of Plain Nature
Zhining Chin, Hopkins’ Chinese Expert and District Coordinator of Assessment, Evaluation and Research, will be traveling to Beijing later this month to attend an art exhibition commemorating the life works of her father, Qin Xuanfu (1906-1998). More than 200 works fully representing every creation period of Qin Xuanfu will be on exhibition at the National Art Museum of China from April 20-26, 2013. Zhining will be joining her family at the museum for the opening ceremony in honor of her father.
About the Museum: The National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) is a national museum located in Beijing. It’s dedicated to the collection, research and exhibitions of modern and contemporary artistic works in China. Over the past four decades, the museum has held thousands of influential exhibitions of different kinds featuring renowned artists from home and abroad.
A Passage to China Returns to Mall of America and our 2nd Graders will be performing! The arrival of spring marks the return of the 6th annual “A Passage to China” that will be held at Mall of America on April 13 and 14. On October 20, 2012, XinXing Grade 3 students will peform with the Minhua Chorus, a local Chinese Chorus for 20 years.

Martial Arts Performance and Demonstration
